These photographs were taken in and around the Colosseum. We ventured inside for a mere price of €13 or so, unfortunately my camera went flat after we had a wee look around but I still managed to get a few snaps in. We discovered later on that our ticket also gave us admission into the Paletine Hill and Roman Forum which was amazing, very huge, photos to come!

These are the first of MANY photographs that I took during my week in Rome. It was a very interesting place, the juxtaposition of ancient architecture with modern day society is a strange thing to experience.

It was very warm in Rome (temperatures around 15ºC) as opposed to now where it has even been snowing.

Currently I am back in Hamburg where temperatures have reached lower than -15ºC! Definitely the coldest I’ve experienced.

A few photos from the two nights we spent in Cardiff. We didn’t make it into the city at all but had a great night out at a pub followed by more drinks which resulted in an all nighter, a one hour sleep then a day of hiking in Brecon Beacons National Park, followed by more drinks, a sleep, an early morning taxi and a train to Manchester.

Hallo!

I am back in Hamburg now, after travelling through Amsterdam and Berlin, I didn’t really find enough time to publish a post on here. Amsterdam was an interesting place. Berlin was great, I really liked it. I went on a street-art walking tour which was amazing, we got to see some fascinating places, although it was -3ºC while we were walking, it started to snow in the evening as I was on the way to see The Black Keys.

The weather in Hamburg is also very cold, it hasn’t been above -2ºC the past few days, and the forecast for the next few days is that it will get down to a low of -18°C with a windchill of -28°C, definitely the coldest temperatures I’ve ever been in.

Still in Rome, last day, off to Amsterdam tomorrow. Got scammed yesterday by a cheeky Italian man, thankfully only lost 20 Euros, lesson learned!

Currently sitting in Alessandro Palace (a hostel in Rome) relaxing and having a day off sightseeing and tourist things. Travel is actually rather tiring.

I left Hamburg on the 10th of January and flew to Manchester followed by a train down to London where I met Josh. We had three busy days and nights in London at a friends place, then a train to Cardiff, Wales, where we spent two nights couchsurfing with a top bloke called Andy and his crew. After Cardiff we caught a train back to Manchester and then flew out to Rome where we spent one night in a hostel before couchsurfing with another great guy called Giancarlo. Josh left back to the UK today so I’m back in the hostel, looking forward to sleep!

Since I’ve been so many places and not had an internet connection I have a massive backlog of photos, so they will start to appear on here over the next few days.

Three more nights in Rome before heading over to Amsterdam, then back to Germany

Happy new year! Hope everyones’ festivities went well. Yesterday I turned 21 (wahoo!).

The photos here are from Dömitz and also from a place known as Bunker Forest, where one of Alfred Nobel’s (the creator of the Nobel prize) old Dynamit Nobel factories lies wrecked.

A belated Merry Christmas to all! These photos are all taken with my two new lenses. A Sigma 18-200mm, and a Nikkor 35mm. I’m really enjoy the new creative possibilities with these lenses.

The photos here were taken around the house and at Dömitz fortress. What an old place, almost 500 years old! Unfortunately they have imposed a €2 fee for photographs…
